If you can’t tell… We’re going nuts over rosé at Couch Potato ATX. I know it's not a new thing, but this is the first week we have it in stock so bare with us as we geek out a little bit.

Today at 4:00pm we are announcing our winner for the Rosé Giveaway & we couldn’t be more excited! In honor of our winners and all rosé lovers out there, we thought we would share this fantastic Rosé Watermelon Margarita!

Cheers!

WATERMELON ROSÉ MARGARITAS

MAKES 1 COCKTAIL

INGREDIENTS:

* coarse salt for the rim

* 2 ounces silver tequila

* 1 1/2 ounces Grand Marnier

* 1 ounce fresh lime juice

* 2 ounces watermelon rosé syrup (recipe below)

* 2 ounces watermelon juice

* 2 ounces rosé wine

* frozen peaches, for serving

* lime wedges, for serving and garnish

* melon balls, for garnish

watermelon rosé syrup

* 1/2 cup rosé wine

* 1/2 cup fresh watermelon juice

* 1 1/4 cups sugar

DIRECTIONS:

Note: to make the watermelon juice, I place a cup or two of fresh watermelon cubes in a blender and blend until pureed. Strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a cup – and you have watermelon juice!

Place the salt on a plate. Rim a glass with a lime wedge and dip in the salt to coat. Fill the glass with crushed ice.

In a cocktail shaker with ice, add the tequila, grand marnier, lime juice, syrup and watermelon juice. Shake for 30 seconds. Pour mixture into the glass, then top it off with the rosé wine. Add a few lime wedges and melon balls for serving.  Cheers!

Watermelon rRosé Syrup

Combine the rosé, juice and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil while whisking constantly until the sugar dissolves. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature, it will thicken slightly. You can store this in the fridge for a few weeks!

With all this rain in ATX, I am doing anything and everything to pretend it is summer. Beer cocktail was #1 on the list. We are HUGE IPA fans around here so when I stumbled upon this recipe using Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, I knew it would be love at first sip. So, grab your best pal, your sunnies, and a few bottles and get your summertime on!

Beer Cocktail Recipe: Cucumber Basil IPA

Makes: 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces vodka

  • 2 basil leaves, chopped

  • 6 slices of cucumbers

  • 3 ounces sparkling lemonade*

  • 3-6 ounces IPA (Citrusy- We used the Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin)

  • Garnish: cucumber slices & basil leaves

Shake it up!

(This seems self explanatory, but just in case...)

  1. Add the vodka, basil, cucumbers and sparking lemonade to a shaker half filled with ice. Shake it, pour into an IPA glass.

  2. Add cucumbers and basil to make it fancy!

Notes

If you use lemon flavored sparkling water, or any other soda that is unsweetened, make sure to compensate for the lack of sweetness with about 1/2 ounce of simple syrup or agave.
